Acceleration Noise Issue...? Please help...
I have a 3.4 95 camaro. I recently bought it like a month ago and when im driving i usually hear a noise when im accelerating. But when i accelerate faster or maybe slower u dont hear the noise until maybe i stop at a stop sign and accelerate again or even when im driving on the freeway and going about 65 mph i let go of the gas pedal and press on it again, i hear it. I dont think it matters how fast i go, and i dont think its coming from my engine because i hear it coming from the back. i dont know much about cars and Im afraid it might be my head gaskets, because once when i filled up my gas tank, i kept on smelling unburnt gas for a day and a half. Could that be the result of a leak?
Rear end? im sorry, but this is my first car and im pretty much new to everything, what do you mean by rear end? And could the problem just be a belt issue? But if it was a transmission issue, then do i actually have to get a whole new transmission? How much do you think it would cost me?
the rear axle... inside the center of the rear axle is a differential a "ring and pinion" and some bearings. my camaro had a vibration i looked in the "rear end" and some of the gears were pitted and cracked... so i replaced the differential today, anyway in your case i would say could be bearings or gears or both... theres also bearing on each end of the axle. kind of by the tires.
my rear end was going out too and it mainly was luder when i was accelerating and eventually i got it rebuilt but my bearings were going out and they were starting to grinding into the pinion it started to get worse the more i drove it
is there oil coming from the rear end around the area were the driveshaft is conected. take a couple pics of the rear end and post em. whens the last time u had the oil in it checked.
