Default LED 3rd Brakelight issue

I decided to change out my 3rd brake light with an led light. When I hooked it up I noticed that it turned on my ABS INOP light on the console. Just wondered if anyone had any ideas on why this would happen.

I wouldn't think those two things are linked!? The bad thing about many after market parts is they don't always stay within OE specs. I've seen people who put in the "blue" headlights only to find out later that those lights used more current that the stocks and actually burned up the wires. Without actually getting it checked thats just speculation at this time. My suggenstion would be to check the current needed by the lights you installed and look up the current needed from the stockers and see if there is any difference. If thats ok then just do a quick check of the wiring in the light you installed. Maybe it's as simple and two wires getting crossed. Hope this helped.

^^ hes right they should not be related. led lights use less current. a lot less. i had to change the blinker flasher on my truck so they didnt blink fast when i changed to led. so if anything it would show a brake lite out. maybe the brake lite on. check the wires that lead to the sensors on your wheels could be a lose one or damaged.

You need to put a resister on the wiring for the LED inorder for it to have the same resistence as the factroy lights. It should have turned on your brake light, not your ABS inop light. Look at ebay, they have several sellers that sell LED's with resistors for 12v system, that's the resistor you need to put in line with the light.

I will also go with a "resistor" for the leds in the 3rd brake light. I needed one for my conversion. I would check with Radio Shack.

If your radio shack is anything like the one I have here, they don't know jack about resistors and load equalizers. Try to find a picture of one used for a 12V, might be able to get it a good picture off ebay. Then just match up the four colored strips and that should work for you. Wire one side into the positive wire and the other into the negative side.
