91 with a/c issue
Hi everyone.
I have a 1991 Camaro, which is all original. Up until this year, the a/c has been fine. Now, it blows air, but it's not cold. I am not up to fixing it myself, unless it is something really simple. Before I head to the shop, I wanted to know if there is any way I can figure out if the compressor is in need of replacement. Anything to look for, or listen for?
Any ideas will b appreciated. Thanks!

Step one should be to check if the compressor engages when you turn on the AC. Most of the time when the system just stops working without any noises it is because the system lost its charge and no longer has enough pressure to set the low pressure switch and the compressor does not turn on. It could be a small leak that has been leaking for years or it could be a larger leak. Leak could from the compressor or any other part of the AC system.
Again that is why MOST cars have no AC they can not hold their refrigerant but you could have a bad AC clutch to a bad wire or connector.
