Ignition Cylinder
Hey guys i recently had my keys stolen when i was at the gym one day so now im in the proccess of pulling my ignition cylinder for i can take it to the lock smith for he can readjust the tumblers. I have succesfully removed the air bag and steering wheel, but i ran into a problem after that. The haynes manual says there is suppose to be a lock ring i need to remove in order to remove the air bag coil for i can access the lock plates. But on my 94 Camaro i dont see a lock ring, but instead i have this big metal ring that i cant remove. i tried a spanner wrench and pulling on it, but the thing wont move. Below are some pics of what that metal ring looks like. Please offer any advice u have. THANKS!!

RE: Ignition Cylinder
Acoording to the FSM there is a snap ring aound the steering shaft that holds the coil assembly. What your pictures seem to show is the coil assembly. Look very closly as sometimes the snap rings fit so closely that they are hard to see.

Try this site. http://aarc.epnet.com/application/93...STALLATIO6.htm
When you get there, you will be in the wrong section. Click on the search button and enter section 8 on the search line. Click on the bottom set of arrows and scroll down to "Bowl Type Steeering Columns" It appears you need a special tool to get access to the snap ring.
