Default Ignition Lock Cylinder

I had the steering column apart on my Camaro to fix a couple issues with it and I had a new lock cylinder so I thought I would replace the old one while I had it out. I put the new one in but now I can't turn the key back far enough to the lock position to get the key out and It won't go into the accessories position.

As far as I can tell the cylinder will only go in one way and I can't turn it a different direction or anything to get things to line up any differently when I turn the key.

Sounds like you need to pull it again and see what's hanging up. Not sure I could diagnose it if it was working before, and now it's not. I'd guess the rod that locks the steering might have fallen out of place.

Heres where I am with it. In the second picture I can't get the key to go any farther back then where it is. And I can't figure out why it won't line up like its supposed to. I replaced the part with the gear teeth you can see in the first picture that the ignition rod connects to and there is only one way for that to go together but its like its a couple teeth off or something.

I don't know how much sense that all makes but thats my problem.

A couple of those teeth are all it takes. If they are not at the end (on both ends of the cycle) I just recently had mine apart, and experienced that.

OT: Are there any kits out there that include an ignition lock, both door locks, a trunk lock and glove box lock ALL KEYED ALIKE for a 1978 Camaro?

Not that I know of, but any good locksmith can do that pretty reasonably. I pulled all my door locks, trunk lock, and glove box locks out and had them keyed to match my ignition. It was $7 per tumbler.
