Default A few problems and questions about my Z28

Hi,

I am sorry for my English on the start. My name's Martin and I am a new member on this forum. I live in Poland and bought a few weeks ago my first F-Body. It's a white Camaro Z28 6-speed manual transmission with white leather for the 30th anniversary. I'm lovin' it from the first day I saw Him... But I have a few questions about my doubts.

First, is it possible to turn off shift-lock or something like this... I don't remember how it's called And when I exactly I can't change a gear? I don't know for what is this system...

Next, could you tell me about vibrations while driving? I feel little when I am getting move, probably it's because of my dead clutch, which I change this month. While normally driving it's OK and more vibrations and noises are about 140-160 mph. I'm worry a little bit.

I had a few years ago a RWD car and there was transmission shaft to trim/balance (I don't know how to say it in English). Is it possible and necessary in Camaro?

I hope my questions aren't specially difficult and thanks for answers!

For your shfting problem you can get a CAGS eliminator kit ($30+-) from either Jegs or Summit. For vibrations at high speeds check the wheel balance, condition of tires and suspension, check driveshaft balance, and condition of U joints.

CAGS is also called skip-shift - youneed an eliminator kit, like pete said... look on ebay, they are a popular little item for you manual transmission guys... heres what one ad says: "The factory C.A.G.S. (Computer-Aided Gear Selector) only allows upshifts from 1st to 4th gear, preventing 2nd and 3rd gear engagement at light throttle speeds between 15 and 20 mph. The Skip Shift Kit eliminates the annoying mandatory 1st to 4th gear shift. Allows full 1st through 6th gear changes at any speed for maximum performance and acceleration. Easily installed in just minutes and OBDII compatible."

as far as vibrations at 150 mph (not kilometers though right?), i would be worried too if i was driving that fast... my first guess would be to check the wheels (rims) for flat spots and ballance, tire wear, and front suspension and steering components (tie rods, rack'n'pinion, steering box, etc), it also helps to have a strut-tower brace, low-profile zr-rated tires, andgood shocks and springs (such as Bilstein BTS), if you want to go that freaking fast... So, do they have pretty good roads out there in Poland?

The skip shift can be removed just by unpluging it. don't waste money on a plug in. just make sure you cover the plug so it doesn't get wet and cause a short.
