Engine Swap NEED HELP
#21
The 97 PCM will not work properly with the 94 engine because it is looking for stuff that is not there. Also, because these are PCMs and not ECMs the do a lot more than just engine management, which means that many of the subsytems won't work right or not at all, such as radio, power windows, AC, and anything else that is communicating with the PCM.
Ideally, you should get a 97 V8 PCM and wiring harness, (get rid of the V6 stuff). Upgrade the 94 engine to 97 specs, including the front cover, crank position sensor, optispark, and exhaust system. The 97 uses different exhaust manifolds to accomodate dual cats, and downstream O2 sensors, and uses a different Y pipe.

actually the 93 does have that crank position sensor
my a/c radio power windows all the electronics work
my 93 engine has all that stuff you listed pete i just replaced the optispark because the shop put a vented one on there and mine is non vented which actually the only difference i can find from the 93 and 97 other than the knock sensors which i'm not sure about
however they cut the cats off so the 02 sensor thing might have something to do with it but if it was the 02 sensors wouldn't the check engine light stay on all the time?
if the knock sensors are different from 93 to 97 couldn't i just get replace the knock sensor module on a 97 z28 ecm with the 93 module on the ecm.

oh well i thought i saw that sensor when i replaced the optispark. maybe not. neways i think the better option would be to try getting someone to reflash the pcm? any recommendations for a good shop to do it and understand the situation i have?
