Differential and driveshaft question
I am curious but do 2000-2002 camaro SS/Z28 do they come stock with an aluminum drive shaft? and what gears do they have stock ? Posi, LSD ? 3.73? 4.10? because i was on ebay and I saw an aluminum driveshaft for and LS1 and 3.73 gears from a 70's camaro and I was wondering if these parts would work on a 2000 V6 camaro ?any info is greatly appriciated
LS1's come with an aluminium drive shaft stock, I'm not sure about your V6. 6 speed cars had 3.42 rear gears, autos had either 2.73 or 3.23's. The gear from a 70's Camaro will not work with your car. A gear swap is a good idea, but the driveshaft is a waist of money, it will not do anything for performance.
i was told by some one if you put and aluminum drive shaft it will give more RWHP or free up more. My drive shaft right now is stock made out of steeland its a 2 piece drive shaft. So it takes more power to spin a steel drive shaft then it would take to spin a lightweight aluminum drive shaft. and i want to use the aluminum driveshaft from an LS1
