Default boring intake

i am planning on getting a new intake for my 93 lt1, it will either be from GM Performance or Edelbrock. My question is that it is 52mm normally but i can get it bored to 58mm to accept more airflow and a bigger throttle body, when getting it bored what is done to it ?

You are increasing the size of the holes at the front of the intake where the throttle blade plate bolts on. You need to do this to allow yhe larger throttle blades to open.
