Default Security problem???

OK i have a 4th gen camaro, every once in a while it does not like to start....
It will sit there and crank forever, so i wait a while or like lock and unlock the doors and it will start.
But tonight none of that worked it didnt wanna start at all, but still cranked and got fuel....
so we disconneted the battery and she started right up, someone suggested that maybe the chip in the key is bad, because it is the old style with the visable chip.
just wondering if anyone else has had this problem or can help me..

o and now my radio in locked anyone have the code lol

thanks

when u unhooked the battery it cleared the computer. that also clears any trouble codes that would have been stored. run it tell it warms up and then scann for trouble codes. could be a number of things so it would be nice to have some idea were to start. ignition modual will do what u are saying but should have continued even after unhooking the battery. the radio is something u will have problems getting on without the code. they make a bypass addon for the sec system but u will need to know your key code to order. read the instructions there is some info in there also.
