Hello all

Well ive got a security problem with my car, its a 94, v6, auto.

The car only cranks when it wants to, security light is almost always on. sometimes it'll go a week without any problems, then sometimes it'll do it 3 or 4 times in a day. Today i tried for a good 45 mins to get it started, but there was nothing. I've already done the thing with the resistor under the column. Im getting tired of this, when the car does start, it runs great. I drive it almost 70 miles every day to work and back.

I thought i read somewhere on here that its possible to bypass the whole thing by jumping a wire somewhere under the passenger side dash?

Any help would be appreciated

 

u can have it removed by haveing a tune done on the computer. pcmforless is a good place. r u sure its not the starter? have u cleaned the battery terminals and battery wire ends? if not get the wire brush out and brush the heck out of em. also there should be a red plastic box on the passenger side fenderwell by the battery. take the wires lose and brush them also. does it click or anything like that? if not and cleaning doesnt work then i would look to the ignition switch.

 

The security light can be a pain.I live in Florida and a couple years back when a hurricane blew thru
i started having issues like that for a while.While my Z is fairly air/water tight the force of a hurricane isnt to be reconed with lol.inside was damp.randomly after a warm day(inside windows fogged up)soon as i stuffed the key in the security light would come on.Wait 3-4 minutes for it to go off and try again.As you know when it comes on it disables the starter and fuel.I would sometimes have to do it 3-4 times.always wipe the key off.eventually the car dried out.but sometimes in midst of summer when keys are chilling in the ac and i walk to a hot car..it does the same.Any moisture in the car?did you say you already did the bypass under the steering column?

Yes i did do the bypass thing under the column.

Anyway, no, not really any moisture in the car. Had to have the car towed home today after trying for 45 mins or so. And of course, as soon as it rolls off the truck, and he leaves, the car started right up.

Its just getting very annoying

 

if the security light is on most of the time, does it not run when the lights on. if your vats delete is working then i would suspect the ignition modual, coil or opti. i had a bad igniton modual and it did the same thing u have. no light though.

 

sometimes the light is on even when the car is running.

 

and when it will not run does the motor turn over but not run or does it do nothing, no clicks or anything?

 

take out your radio fuse the one that doesn't say acc. then close the door and put key in ign. should hear your door chime ding twice i believe then if you hit unlock it will chime again from one to four times. if it dings once security is turned off now.

 

the issue with the security light could possibly mean your vats key or ign cylinder is not getting the correct code i would assume.

 

Yea, when it doesnt run, i get nothing. No click, crank, nothin. The radio works, and lights work, but nothing else.


And about the radio fuse thing, I dont have power locks. So idk if that will help
