Default Edelbrock Carb on My 327. Please Help!

I have a 67' and haven't been able to start it. I have isolated the problem
to the carb. Fuel line is clear and I just installed a new fuel pump. If I
pull the fuel line off the inlet and turn it over the fuel pumps out just fine.
I have taken off the inlet and it's all clear as well. So the next thing I
tried was to pour about a teaspoon of gas directly into the carb and it fires right up. I also think some of the linkage isn't right as the accelarator is kind of limp. I have looked all over for a diagram of the set up, but to no avail. Can anyone help with this? At the end of my rope.

Thanks

Download the owners manual: http://edelbrock.com/automotive_new/...ess_main.shtml
Could be your needle/seat is stuck, the float is out of adjustment, the accelerator pump is shot, or there's a lot of crud inside the carb.
If you look down the carb as you work the throttle, can you see the throttle plates opening?
Sounds like you might have to pop the carb open to take a peek at everything inside.

^ as he said it could be a stuck float valve. also should be a screen or filter in the inlet fitting on the carb. have u checked it?

The screen looked ok in the inlet. Do I pull it out of the inlet? As for the owners manual I downloaded that first and though it is good as a diagram of the carb, however it doesn't show how the linkage hooks up.

so no crud in the screen. u can pull it out if u like, just be carful not to mess it up. the carbs are made for many different makes and models so they dont show the individual linkages. u will need to get a rebuild kit for it, at least it would be a good idea to do so. u are going to have to take the top off the carb and the gaskets dont always come off in good shape. also with the rebuild kit should be a new seat and valve for the float valve setup. it really sounds like that could be it. maybe try tapping on the top of the carb were the fuel line goes in with the plastic end of a screwdriver to see if u can knock the float valve lose. dont beat on it just tap it firmly. if it comes lose it will take a few revolutions of the motor for it to get the fuel into the system and start, if it does that does not mean its fixed, it will stick again but that would at least give u an idea what it most likely is.

give your local parts store a call and see if they have one. i got one from sumitt which is were i got the carb from. they also have the bigger jet kits to adjust the amout of fuel getting to the motor. so u got the 600 or the 750.

Don't think bad of me, and I love Edelbrock for all they have done to keep us going, but trash the carb, get a holley, once you get a rebuild kit and go through the headache just to find out you missed a little plastic part, trash it bro......speaking from experience.
