86 camero fuel pump problems
I am working on an 86 chevy camero with a 2.8 liter fuel injected V6. From the beginning I replaced the fuel pump and filter and it was running fine. I then pulled the carpet and replaced it and then pulled the stearing column and replaced it with another one which appears to be exactly like the one I pulled. After doing this I went to start the car and turned the ignition on and waited to here the electric fuel pump come on and it never did. I turned the vehicle to start and the car ran but only long enough to run what fuel pressure It had down and died. I have changed the fuel relay, Checked the fuse in the engine compartment and all has power to it and one leg of my relay is hot. When I turn the ignition on I am not getting a signal for the relay to send current back to my fuel pump.
Question is could there be something wrong in the steering column that I just put in (used but in excellent shape) or is there something else I am missing. Like possibly the computer not sending a signal for the relay to open. Or maybe I now have a problem with the fuel pressure switch not seeing it needs fuel even though it runs all the fuel out of the fuel rail.
I know this is alot but I figured it would be easier for someone to help if they had more info. Thanks for any help you can give me,you guys have helped me many times already and I am glad to be able to come to you for help.
