1986 Camaro Speaker Problems
Hey guys! I got a 1986 black chevy camaro, love of my life.
In the last couple days when driving, sound fades out of my left speakers, the whole left side. I can get the sound to come back if i switch from AM to FM or vice versa but will loose sound again if i hit a bumb or take a tight turn. My inital thought is that this is simply a connector problem and I plan to take apart the unit tomorrow, but Im looking for other suggestions/ideas to what the problem may be, before I take it to the shop.
Thanks!!!!

Sounds like it's either a main harness connection problem, easy to fix there. Or it could be your head unit. My guess is it's the head unit going out. One speaker would probably be a connection issue, but both speakers on the left side, I say head unit going out. how long has the head unit been in there, and more importantly, what brand is it? Or is it stock?

Hey sorry for such a late response to your questions. By head unit I figure u mean the radio itself, which is the original radio. I feel like it just may be a wire problem dealing with the left side of my speakers and am not sure whether it would make more sense to pay for the labor or just replace the unit as a whole.
Appreciate any help I can get
thanks

Ok, do this. Take the head unit (stereo) out and then hook up speakers directly to the wires coming out of the stereo, if they work, then it is a wiring issue in the rest of the wiring going to the speaker locations. If they don't work, then it's your stereo.

Go to Best Buy with a list of the speaker sizes and listen to each brand.
Stereo systems are part of the owners preference. Anyone can recommend speakers, But ultimately it is your car and your music, Go buy what sounds good to you.
