1986 transmission problems?????plz help
I have a 1986 camaro with the v6 2.8l and it all the sudden the other day started cuttting the engine off when i go to put it in drive but when its in park it runs just fine. I was wondering is the a common problem with this gen or what yall think it could be??? Anything can help im not too familiar with the v6's.....thx
it's not the tranny
what you describe is the enbgiencuts out when a load is placed upon it
what happens when you bring the idle up to 1k and shift into drive?
when was the last time you ran sea foam through the car?
has it been less than 24 months since your least set of wires, plugs, fuel filter, cap and rotor?
how old is your air cleaner?
when did you last check the pcv valve?
how about the breather?
please do not come back and ask how to or where are those general maintenance items which i listed and should always be ruled out first

No, it wouldn't be the trans, but it could be the torque converter if the lockup isn't staying unlocked. See what happens when you put the shifter into a lower gear than drive.
