1968 hei upgrade problems

Default 1968 hei upgrade problems

I am upgrading to hei from points ,the distributor is off a 1984 chevy g20 van .It is going on a 327 .i replaced cap rotor plugs new 7prong ignition module i get no spark .there are other wires that used to go to the vans ecm .Could it be i need a4 prong ignition module for this distributor to work . I dont have a tach yet so i have not plugged in the wire on the distributor.But i think the body if the would ground it .Right? need some help .

Yep....

You need a 4 pin module. The 7 pin modules are for computer controlled engines.

Do you plan on using a distributer without a vacuum advance? You can get a pre79 dist with it.

[X(]if youre not sure of what youre doing(4,7 pin etc) i would suggest you purchase a complete hei with vacuum advance as i believe complete aftermarket assemblies are getting down around $100 and this unit would be almost literally plug and play for you kurt
