from tbi to carb

well im gunna be attemting this on my 305 and my older brother said that it will work fine and i just have to get a manifold so i got both manifold and carb but how do i go about this
ive been told i need to put a fuel pump in (in the engine area)
and ive head i didnt have to i also heard sumthing about wiring the choke to the fuel relay ?
and will this make check engine light come on
and will this mess wth the computer?

I'm not sure that your engine block would have a provision for a mechanical pump, I would get a lower pressure in-line pump. Then again, the TBI set-ups didn't have TOO high line pressure, you MIGHT be able to get a fuel pressure regulator and keep your pump. I believe the TBI ran 12-15psi, a carburetor should be around 7psi. The choke you can wire to any line that gets 12 volts once the ignition key is turned.
It probably will make the check engine light come on, although the computer might still control your transmission alright. If you want to go way over, you could just get some older-style guages and a vacuum controlled transmission lock-up kit and do away with the computer all together.
