Default Engine Swaps (question)

alright well i just got hooked up with an old 81 camaro, but its engine is seized. Im just takin a course and starting my apprenticeship as a mechanic, so im really fresh at this and dont know squat. anyways as i said the engine is seized and well needs to be replaced. i was talkin with one of my buddies and he told me that Chev engines are really easy to swap considering the trannies bold pattern is on the same for soemthing li ke 90% of their engines if not all. so no heres where my question comes in

I have an 88 buick regal... not the greatest looks like a slug. anyways, I know GM is owned or ownes chevrolet, and i was wondering if i could swap the V6 in my 88 and toss it in the camaro, just so i have a running vehicle, please dont spam me cause i know... its a horrible thing to do to such a g-o-d-like car, cash is short and i need atleast on workin vehicle. so is it possible to pull out the old seized 305 and toss in the v6 2.8. and noob question #2, the camaro is a manual, and the regal is automatic... would that matter in an engine swap?

thanks much appreciated.

very off side note... this thing wont lets me spell the word GOD i have to spell it g-o-d so when i said g-o-d like care i mean god-like but all you see are asterics
