Crankshaft Bolt Torqueing

Crankshaft Bolt Torqueing
Hey everyone,
The time has come to time. But first I believe that I need to torque down my crank shaft bolt (sbc 350). What do I torque it to and how do I torque it without the flywheel spinning? Also do I still time at TDC if the engine is modified to about 400 HP. Thanks.

Im not sure if this is where i should be posting this question, but, here it goes; I'm wondering if you guys can tell me how i can remove the sprocket from the crankshaft of my sbc 350? Im trying to upgrade to a double roll timing chain..any feedback would be much appreciated

Use a small gear puller to pull off the sprocket.
On both the new sprocket install, and harmonic balancer install, emery paper the crankshaft snout, sprocket, and ID of h/bal, clean all with oil/WD40, and a clean rag, and lube both the snount and sprocket & h/bal before install with oil/WD40.
Use an installer for the sprocket with a spacer, pipe or otherwise, and for the h/bal.
This installing tool prevents damage to the thrust bearing. Tool can be rented, maybe free, from most chain parts store.
Install h/bal until it stops, you'll feel it.

@everett...thanks alot bro that really helped ...i have another question. During the process of buying the harmonic balancer the dude at the parts house raised some questions..i never really identified exactly what size engine i have, and the guy at the parts house was telling me it was really important to know the size because it will basically mess my engine up..i got the casting numbers (397000) of the engine, but i cant seem to find the #'s in any of the casting number websites..

You should start your own thread. But look at your block again and I'm sure you'll see it as 3970010, which is a very common 350 block 1969-80, or a 69 Z/28 302 (would be nice if it was that one).
