Default crankshaft ???

Hey guys,
Im a still kind of new to the forums but and currently rebuilding a chevy sb and looking to make 400 hp and around equal torque. My question is can i use the cast iron crank or do i need to upgrade it? Also what hp ratings are for each crank from cast iron to forged iron to cast steel and forged steel? To what hp can each crank hold up to?

all cranks are steel, cast or forged
a cast crank would be fine, unless you plan on using NOS

Cast Iron
Cast steel
Forged steel
All have different properties. I see that you have never taken Strength of Materials 101.

How much do you want to spend? You can get a 4340 steel crank and spend bucks or a 5140 and give up a little strength and cost. Or, just buy yourself an already built motor from summit.
