Default 350 engine trouble

http://www.facebook.com/album.php?ai...2&id=836485111
hey, a few years ago i had a 350 rebuilt, as far as i know everything was replaced except the crank. The cylinders were also bored 0.004 over size, I recently started it up after preoiling it, and heard a knock traced it back to the oil pan so i ripped the motor out, to check the bearings and both main and connecting rod bearings are in rough shape and the pistons are burnt up a bit i just want want to know what you all think, thanks for the input.

I think it needs to be rebuilt.
Was this a "not run yet until now" rebuilt engine? Or was it "rebuilt, driven for a while, then sat for a while" engine?

Whether the engine was "put to bed" properly or not could have made a difference.
Also where you said "as far as i know everything was replaced except the crank". That "as far as you know" part is important information, to know for sure what you received.

If the pistons are "burnt up a bit" and the bearings are shot it could have been a detonation issue.

How bad were the bearings? Could you see copper? Was the motor put together balanced? Does it look as though the bearings are deeply scratched like something (Metal, sand and dirt) was passing through? How bout the rods did any of them look dark and burned down by the crank journals? The sides of the pistons, around the top, just before the rings, how did this area look? Post some pics. Would be great.

hey that face book link is the pics sorry its the only way i could figure it out haha.. but ya the bearings were copper and scratched the sides of the pistons were fairly clean but the tops were dark .. and i did get it over to the machine shop and the guy over there was telling me that it looks like an overfueling problem (to much gas in the oil) he figures that the fuel pump was leaking in to the block. Or that the carb was dumping to much fuel in there apparently the edlebrock carbs are set for sea level and where i am located it needs to be re jetted. either way any one have experience in over fueling
