Default Engine Trouble

I have a '93 Camaro that my father bought me for my first car. When we received it, it was missing whole lot and has obviously been in a previous wreck.

We managed to plug up a lot of the damage and get it to run comfortably; however, there are still some engine problems:

a) The gears like to stick a little bit and I'd to get that smoothed out if I want to keep this car and get it up to par like other Camaros despite it being a '93.

b) The engine heats up like none other. I live in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma and my poor car can't take anything past an 1.5 hour drive and that's even pushing it's luck.

The heating issue is my priority issue that I would like to know how to resolve because I can't afford to get it to an autoshop and get the engine cleaned part for part. I've looked around and it looks about 2400$ and my family got me the car for 1400$.

I assume that some of the heating problems is because it's been sun-baking for quite some time because we found it in a lot in the middle of nowhere in Eastern Oklahoma. The car was baking and has shown little attention in driving or general care period. This has led me to assume that while it got it's tan, the oil whatever else in the engine has dried and is preventing the engine from performing as it should.

Any and all help will be appreciated,

Nothing has been wrong with a '93 to me, but I've been told by a lot of my friends that it's kind of the worst year for the Camaro. O.o

The motor I have is a 3.4 SFI V6 engine and everything works. No one can really pinpoint as to where or why my camaro is overheating like it is.

As I have said, I am thinking that the overheating from whatever got sunbaked inside the engine. Like sludge, leftover oil, or whatever because my car has been out on a lot just baking for quite some time. My car wreaked of it until I could clean out most of the dust from within the car.

the only real difference between the 93 and the 94-95 is with the z28 and that has more to do with the computer. the 3.4 has issues with head gaskets and that may or may not be your problem. is there water in the oil, ull know by the milky color. keep an eye on that. have the radiator, motor and heater core flushed. do not mix types of antifreeze. u can end up with a gunky mess if you mix the wrong ones. make sure the fans are coming on.

Cool, I'll talk to my father about it since he's the one that's been insisting on getting my car fixed up. I'm pretty sure he's replaced all the fluids, but I'll see if he flushed the places you mentioned. He's real careful about what is put in since he's dealt with cars before and he knows what should and shouldn't go in there so it might be a fan problem as the heat levels like to spike and settle at 3/4 of the way to the red zone. I'll definitely look into it. Thanks a lot. ^^
