The point made should have been worded "LS1 era" (98-up) to avoid confusion on your part. The front end is the same between LS1 and V6 models. But since the LS1 needed more hood clearance than the LT1 did, the hood line was changed. Can't speak for the fender height difference between the LT1 and LS1 (era) models, or what those dimensions may be.

Camaro 69, thanks for clarifying!

Just measures and my SLP SS hood holes start 10/16s of an inch from the bottom of the hood where the latch sits. -- The Truefiber ones are WAY off from the airbox slot. I think Socom's measurements must be way off...

Looks like the VFN Fiberglass one gets the hole much closer:

It is "fully functional" in that air can pass through the scoop. Ram air in it of itself is a marketing term, and its true effect is more myth than fact. You are making that a bigger deal than it is worth.

Instead of getting all hung up on wanting "ram air", let the incoming air from the hood deflect around and flow across the engine. Then remove the rear hood to cowl gasket, and you'll have flow through "air conditioning" to help remove some of the boxed in hot air from the engine compartment. I don't have that problem with my car!

^ Both my Camaros already have the SLP CAI...

Based on this experience I would not recommend the made in China Truefiber products and try others like VFN Fiberglass (made in IL) or the best would be the original SLP contracted manufacturer: Advanced Composite Specialties. They did take some money off my hood cost due to the experience, but overall I am very unhappy with the whole experience, and expect much better.

Well, the RS should be back from the body shop this week, hood is painted and looking great -- amazing how much a hood can improve the look of a car! The body shop will be adding some lower holes more like the original SLP SS hood to make the ram air truly functional! Saw the car today and it looks great!

I had to replace the driver side yellow turn signal assembly which heat cracked on the rear -- explaining why that side was always so dim! Need to redo my bulb gaskets most are so loose that the seal is not very good anymore!

Also needed to replace the passenger headlamp assembly, so I went for these projectors to make my HIDs work better. Setup the LEDs to be on with the running lights -- looks slick!

Note that K2 Motor does not make these, but they sell them, it's some other vendor, they tell me...

Well here is how it came out, this is before I switched my SS' SLP ZR1 style 17" wheels over…

With the holes made under the hood, the ram air is fully functional and noticeable -- if anyone wants to see a photo of that I can post one. I really like the new hood lines -- big improvement to the looks of the car, IMHO.
