v6 - v8 rearend question
Hello,
Why does the rearend need to be replaced for a swap or can just the differential be changed? Also could a ls1's rearend work on a v6? What would happen if you just put in the v8 engine without the rearend being upgraded as well?
Thanks

I do not think there is a differents in the axle housings. It is just cheaper and easier to do the swap. Also since most V6s came with drums you also get the rear disk upgrade. Installing a differential is a pretty complicated process and if you do not get it right the rear will rip itself a part pretty quickly. It should not be a big deal since you need the whole doner car for the swap anyway. You can switch out the rears in just a few hours. Compaired to the rest of the swap this will be about the easiest part.
