Default RS exhaust has a plate in tail pipe?

I bought a RS duel exhaust off a 02 camaro and behind the passenger side tip is a little plate that is welded in. its about a inch or 2 back from the end of the tail pipe. I was wondering is this is stock or if it was added later on and if I should remove it.

Thanks

You might want to post a photo for others to see, and note which side(s) you are talking about... That is how it came, if you want to verify, phone SLP...

I never looked inside and noticed this plate before, but if it's on the passenger side only, it must be to direct more sound to the driver side -- my best guess...

From that photo, you don't have the S-Pipe fully inserted -- it should go mostly unto that raised section, plus that bolt needs to align through the hole in the plate. For clamps, most auto places sell them like Summit, WS6store, ThunderRacing, Jegs, etc.

should i take the plate out or leave it? would it be effecting performance at all? and i cant align the bolt because the other side hits the brace and it rattles and annoys me. I just want to remove the brace until i get the right clamp but i dont know if that will harm anything. also could i put something on the exhaust pipe to get it to push on more? me and my dad where pushing and twisting and wiggling and thats all we could get.

Disconnect the rest of the exhaust and get the S-pipe in the way it should be first, THEN connect the rest, else you may have an exhaust leak...

As for the plate -- choose your own adventure.
