So I bought a 94 Camaro a couple of months ago, and have had numerous problems. My uncle, who is a camaro guy and rebuilds cars (but also lives hour and hours away from me) found it and checked it all out for me so we had hoped it would be in a great condition. First off I discovered quickly that the gas gauge doesn't work. It was lots of frustration and money spent to a garage to tell me that, but easy fix just set my tripometer when I get gas.
Next it broke down again, this time it was the alternator. Got that replaced and things were peachy for a couple of weeks. But today when I got into my car the service engine soon light was flashing. So I turned the car off, waiting a few seconds then restarted it and it was fine. But as I drove a couple hundred feet it came back on and stayed on and as I pulled my car over I saw smoke coming out of the tail pipe.
I check the oil and that is fine. Could it be just time for an oil change? I did drive it all the way back from Colorado but I don't think its been 3000 miles yet. Any ideas on what I should trouble shoot for before I take it and pay hundreds of more dollars?
