Default ? regarding fuel guage 97 3.8L

I noticed today when I went to start the car that the fuel guage is pegged to the "full" side of the scale on the instrument cluster. Tank is less than or about 1/4 full. Car will not start, just cranks over. Cannot hear fuel pump prime when key is turned on, no fuel pressure from fuel rail. Fuses look good. I am assuming the pump bite the dust but the fuel guage pegging makes me want to think possibly a wiring issue could have develped. Car has been parked for about a month without being drove. What do you think? Pump or wiring?

Thanks

I think the only thing they share is the connector. Is it possible the gage has always don that and you just noticed it because of the issue? Might want to pull the connector and make sure the pump is getting power and ground?

Have you replaced the pump before this?

If the gas gauge doesn't get a good connection from the sending unit, the needle will peg full. That, coupled with the "dead" pump you have, tells me you must have a bad connection.
