The guy who made the sale to me was busy with another customer, he said he would call me back though, so I'm waiting on him. I'll give him 15 minutes until I call back and talk to someone else.

reluctor is pressed on, the parts book shows different numbers for it, 26029185 should be the part number you need, its for a gu5 carrier. is there a rubber or plastic wrap on it covering the reluctor?

Sorry for the delay; I hadn't been to sleep yet at the time and I passed out - Summit guy never called.

Nope, there was no rubber or plastic wrap on it. There was simply nothing pressed onto it.

I did talk to another summit guy though, he said they didn't carry anything like that in stock for those vehicles (no pressed on ABS for 98 camaro).

I looked on ebay and couldn't find anything, so I'll keep checking there for a whole used rear end.

edit: before I end up buying another rear end (I know I'm going to), can you tell me what the benefit is over 12 bolt from 10 bolt? You mentioned it briefly earlier, so that had me really curious. This car is also my daily driver, but I want to keep a little bite in it's bark. Also, if I replaced the *entire* rear end (axles and all), am I limited to what I could put in?

the 12 bolt will handle alot more hp than a 10 bolt. my 10 bolt is not happy right now and ive only been using it with this motor for 4 months, i figure once redone with new gears and bearings it should be good for another 4 or 5 months. lol. heres the part you need. you may be able to find one cheaper.

This is exactly the part! My new carrier is already installed, but hypothetically could I have it pulled out and have this thing pressed on?

edit: is this the size and everything?

I can't tell if it made a difference or not because I haven't gotten on it yet.. A new problem has come up; my front wheels are getting really hot, and when I drive I can hear a clapping sound (like a piece of tire tread on hitting the road). When I get out of the car, I can smell what I think are my brakes - and like I said the wheels get extremely hot. If you put water on them, it makes a hissing sound. The wheels are 9.5 inches wide, bead to bead.

edit: I haven't checked yet, but tomorrow I'm going to jack my car up and see if anything is rubbing, but even if it were, that wouldn't explain the wheels getting as hot as they are. I have drilled and slotted rotors, so I'm going to switch them (the spiral shape is facing the rear of the car, I'll swap them so they face the front) and see if that makes a difference. I think the first thing though when I jack the car up, I'll spin my tires and see if i can hear that clapping noise again. If not, I'll switch rotors and give it a test drive. If that doesn't fix it, I'll put my old wheels on the front and see if that does it. If that DOES fix the problem, then I'll have to put my old wheels back on, all the way around, and order two new wheels at 8" wide for the front (I have 9.5 all the way around).

'nother edit: I just ordered the reluctor; thanks a bunch for finding that! saved me lots and lots of grief and money

had that happen and the caliper was bad, only one side though, the heat ruined my wheel bearing and they are not cheap.

I'll check it tomorrow... if that's what it is, I may just have it hauled to the shop to save the bearings.

edit: I got it jacked, both my brakes are clamped onto my rotors. My brother thinks it's because I don't have ABS anymore, so it's sent a signal to my master cylinder to engage my brakes? I don't know...

I ordered that part though, so it looks like I afoot until it comes in and I can get my car hauled to a garage to install it.

Any suggestions on what may be causing it? Seems to coincidental for it to be collapsed lines.

The clapping sound I was hearing; brand new tires and I picked up a screw...

What a way to finish the day off. Bad rear end, no ABS, brakes are seized, and now I got a screw in a new tire...

Now I'm stuck afoot until my reluctor comes in (est. ship date: 11/9)

This sucks.

edit: Is there any way to get the brakes to ease up? At least that way it'd be driveable...
