Is the 3.8 engine in a firebird the same as the one in the camaro? I have a 96 camaro and the engine that I am looking at is from a 2000 firebird. I am assuming it is pretty much the same engine but am not sure about the electronics.

its exactly the same

 

The intake manifolds and throttle bodies are different. I think there are a few other subtle differences too, I believe. Though nothing that can't be fixed by swapping from the old engine to the new one.
