Hi there still new to the forum but im in an interesting situation i got 2 cars one is an 81 and the other the 79 now the 79 is my driver the 81 is kinda the parts car now frame is shot. Now im trying to decide on if i want to swap the engines? my 79 has a 2 barrel 305 stock and the 81 camaro has a 305HO from what i got on my casting numebers 14014440 305 80 305HO, 58cc, 1.84"/1.5" valves. when i looked it up. i can tell the 81's 305 has been taken out before and done up i also had the 4 barrel q-jet on it and its a loud beast compared to my 305 in the 79 now should i do a swap?or jsut leave it and tinker with the 305 in my 79? im jsut not to sure what i want to do lol any adivse would be great tho.

 

Sounds like the engine in the 81 is definitely a better one. I'd swap them.

 

im sure im not gunna be the first to tell you. If your going to do a swap, why not go for a 350. unless there are no good deals around where u live

 

Ya no good deals for a 350 up here where i live but im just thinking i ether swap or dont but it does have more mff then the one in my 79 guess ill still have to think on it i just wanted other camaro owners opinions and ya a 350 would be sweet but i dont want to spend more on an engine when i have this other 305 thats been worked on compared to my stock on my 79.

 

You could have the swap done in a weekend if you have some experience and help. I'd do the swap and save up for something more powerful in the long run.
