None? Come down to Portland! I'm actually being serious, not rude. There's a few here that I wish were around when I was shopping.

And there are plenty more. You may need to take a trip to find the deal your looking for. Anything with more than 4 cylinders is not selling well down here in oregon. Some of these have been up for months, and some of them I looked at months ago. They were nice, but out of my price range. I only had $4000 at the time, and my pontiac was taking a turn for the worse on me. I was in the market for a Corolla or Prelude, and dad said that I should look at V6 mustangs and camaros. I did, and found one that I could not pass up. It was mistakingly marked too low on craigslist by a local dealership. I walked in, drove it, loved it, bought it. It should have been about $6000 in the condition it's in. Keep on looking, you'll find a deal soon enough.

has anyone mentioned that economy is directly related to vehicle weight and power, not necessarily displacement?
those little 4 bangers that claim such great mileage dont look so good once modded enough to keep up with the v8's. the same is true of the 6ers. the only legit argument is the insurance. but even still, i got my car for 9.5k. spent 800 updating and fitting my nitrous kit. 700 on my cam and valvetrain. about 700 on boltons. all in all while spraying I should be near the 500rwhp mark. i know thats speculative but 400rwhp isnt uncommon for a cammed car, and my cam is on the larger side. and i spray a 125 shot on top of that.(those are actually the exact power numbers for a member at mf.com 98ls1 who also by coincidence owns a black TA) do you think you can get a 500rwhp v6 wth 11.7k of which needs to come cost of car. i hate to say it but i doubt it. especially considering the cost of a forged rotating assembly to handle the means by which you would make that power. to make matters worse, i could have gone with a camaro and saved myself $1.5-2k or maybe even a little more. i didnt read back to see why spartan is lookin for <6k ls1 cars, but it seems he found some in at least the 7k range. so in one of the lower 7 levels of hell you guys may be looking to make 500rwhp on 9-10k including cost of vehicle.

all that being said, the main message is for a budget build the v8 is definitely the way to go if you are really looking to go fast. now, if you want a good looking, sensible car, and you want to make it a little more fun or unique modding a v6 makes a lot more sense. however, not many platforms can gain 30+rwhp from a simple set of headers.

on the other hand: if you have proven your father wrong and have money that really did grow on a tree then pick your poison. fast v6 cars are sweet, and they make way better sleepers than a v8 will. however you are looking at a budget of more than 10k invested.

This is my goal. I keep on thinking I'll make a race car out of it, but I never will. I'll build a V6, eithor with that short block I found, or I 'll do it from scratch, one piece at a time, slowly. This will always be my driver. And with that in mind, I need to keep my perameters in place. I'm not rich, I had to sell my prized 1979 Jeep Cherokee Chief S to get this. My pontiac was the driver, and the Jeep my toy. When the driver puked, the toy had to go for another driver. I tried so hard to keep my jeep. I was doing every mod I could to get the mileage back up, but I had to face the facts and buy something that I could afford to drive. It pisses me off to know that my old Chief is out being wheeled in the mud. I treated that truck like it was my best friend. I even drove it from the Northwest all the way to Reno for Hot August nights to show it off. Spent almost $1000 in gas to do it. I'm trying to mod this Camaro to convince myself that it's better than the Chief. I grew up with that truck. It's been in my life as long as I can remember. And I sold it for for this plastic car. When I start going into mods, I'm trying to keep my head off my jeep, and this is not helping. I'm done with this thread. I don't think people understand the pain I had when I saw it leave. I couldn't sleep for about 2 weeks. And I won't be sleeping tonight.

[sm=violin.gif]. But I know how you feel. My camaro is going south on me and i wont know until.. well.. tomorrow if ill be able to salvage it. But this is my only car my only transportation and if i do in fact need to sell it for a new car id have to sell it then buy the new car same day otherwise im screwed. I dont want to sell it tho because it has sooo much sentimental value that I just cant let it go i have contemplated it soooo many times but i just cant seem to think of life without the Camaro and unless it forces me to sell it I dont want to even imagine life without it. If i were able to id buy another car as a driver and use the Camaro as a toy but my dad wont let me own two cars... even if one costs like 500 bucks.

I know whatcha mean, I got the Z and now I'm selling my Bronco. That truck took my wife to the hospital the night my son was born, first vehicle he road in and he helped me build the last engine. (Helping being relative, he's just over 2 so he was just pretending I guess) but it isn't a vehicle that make's sence to me any more. Yeah, I can haul all kinds of crap with it and I can pull a trailor but I never do that. It get's 7 MPG and the Z is pulling the 17 MPG mark so that's more than double and the insurance is actually cheaper. With that said, sometimes you just have to take things for what they are. Absolutly NOTHING wrong with modding a 6 and any vehicle you're putting in the 8's is going to be expensive... DUH!

ok heres my response to all the huba
1) ok im a noob, no denying that, all i own is a 1995v6 3.4 camaro i got from my pops. so basically i dont know a whole bunch about cars and mods..etc..
2) any1 who bashes my 6 will pay, i dont know how, but theyll pay
3) if any1 is trying to mod up a 6, dont go overboard, just a CAI, cats, etc.. no turbos or nitrous. like spartan said, most of us are kids. im only 16. i really dont have much cash to do huge mods. so basically if you want more speed for your cash, buy a SS or Z28.

In the end it comes down to the fact that theres no replacement for displacement.

spartan [:@]
thats not whats being discussed here. true, if you want to make lots of power then you can say that. but these guys arent talking about easy 10 second builds. in the end there is no replacement for whatever the hell you want to do with you car.

oaky well it doesnt at all depend solely (sp) on displacement, however a big engine can be more beneficial. just look at a 360 modena, theyve got a tiny V8 and they make about 400hp, or the evo FQ400 that makes 400hp also but only has a 4cyl.

but then again a veyron makes 1000 (i think) hp and look how big its engine is lol
