So I was driving home from school today and suddenly started feeling random losses of power in it. I'd have to step on the gas almost all the way for it to start accelerating. Then it would pass and it would drive normal. Then when I was standing in a traffic jam, and the cars in the front start slowly moving I let off the break and expected the car to pick up like 10-15 mph, like it usualy does, without me touching the gas, instead it didn't even get up to 5. Could that be a result of me running rich and having a bad maf sensor?

Well, your car can be running rich due to the bad MAF, and bad plug wires or spark plugs can obviosuly cause engine misfire, and the teeth in yours gears in your trans are probably chipped off, causing it to slip.

This is all speculation though.

Well the transmission died earlier this week. So that's going to be the first thing I am replacing.

Damn, sorry man.

Thankfully if mine ever goes, my buddies friend will rebuild my trans for $800

Haha, somebody in the local F-body association quoted me the same price. Looking at it from the bright side I will soon have a smooth shifting and reliable transmission.

I have been having a similar problem out of my 95 3.8. Autozone ran the codes for me and I came back w/P0171 P0174 P0303 and a code for egr valve (cant remember the exact#). The first 2 codes say that banks 1&2 are running lean and the third says cylinder 3 is missfiring. I took it to a mechanic they said it needed an egr valve and new plugs and wires. I changed this out and it ran fine for about 50 miles and started acting up again.
Went back to autozone and it had the same codes still w/out the egr one. I have also changed out the fuel filter before all this started happening. The funny thing is my car doesnt do it every time you drive it. I tried pulling the plug on the MAF and the vehicle seems to run alot better no hesitation like before and doesnt seem to be missing. I cant afford right now to purchase one. How long or will the car run w/out it hooked up?

My car ran like crap with the MAF unplugged. It was almost dying at idle. I plugged it right back in after a few miles.
