Default Help, cant read codes on 1994 lt1 obd1

FIXED!!!!

I am trying to read the codes on my 94 z28. I have tried 2 different obd1 scanners and both of them show " The vehicle is not responding"

any ideas?

thanks

FIXED!!!!! if your having trouble getting a OBD-1 scanner to link to your computer. Use the model year 1992 and your vin code p for lt1 (if it asks for it). Thanks Craby for your help!

94 is a unique one for trying to read codes. it is a obd1 but cannot be scanned by all obd1 scanners. you could pick up a aldl cable and read them using your laptop and tunerpro. then you could see whats goin on with the sensors as well.

Check all your fuses for a blown one, primarily the fuse for the cigarette lighter/accessory.
I know the OBD2 ALDL port gets its power from there, but not positive about the OBD1 port.

Thanks

Where is the best/cheapest place to pick up a aldl and tunerpro?

I have a older actron that worked before on this car and now it dosent. My neighbor has a almost new $300 scanner he bought from sears and that one dosent work either.

Do you think the aldl and laptop would be able to connect?

If the fuses check out ok, check for power right at the ALDL port. The lower right prong (#16) should have 12 volts at it.
No power, and a scanner/reader won't communicate with the computer.

I checked all the fuses in the car and under the hood, and there all good. I still cant get the scanner to link up the computer. I took it to a friends house that has a xray (brand) scanner with obd1 adapter and nothing. I have a check enging light that sometime stays on all the time and some times comes on at low speed. And most of the time when it does come on the fans start up. I really dont wanna go to a dealership.....
