Default Noise going over bumps & accelerating & over driveways

I have a 94 Camaro with ONLY 30,000 miles (yes thirty thousand miles) on it. (v-6) - not a z28.

So its kinda like new but ever since I bought it in 1994, I seem to get a thump noise over bumps in the road, exiting driveways, and hard turns too. It irritates the heck out of me and I just avoid driving it.

It seems like it is coming from the right rear or trunk lid/glass - I have an electric trunk opener (or electric hatch release) if that matters.

No metalic "clanking" noise like a bad driveshaft would make. It almost sounds as if someone is opening and closing my rear hatch-back window. But I am not sure.

I have crawled underneath to look for loose nuts and bolts and I found none in the rear. The rubber bushings looked OK to my untrained eye.

I check the nut on the top of the right rear strut and it seems to be threaded down quite far. (I thought a loose strut might have been the noise) It kinda sounded like it was coming from that area.

I have eliminated the possibility of cargo noise by taking everything out of the cargo-well area in the trunk.

Can ANYONE help me PLEASE ?

I want to drive this car more but the noise is so irritating

Check and see if your spare or jack could be loose. Unless you already took them out of the side pannel. Mine just started rattling around the other day and I thought something was wrong but it turned out that my spare was moving around.
Hope thats it cuz thats an easy fix.

Thanks Bubonic..........

I have checked the spare tire and it seems to be tight. I think I will go ahead and remove it altogether and see if that does anything. More sugestions are always appreciated.

Thank You again

I've got a 99 Camaro V6 and had a similar problem. I had to get the catalytic converter replaced because it was loose and real old. That could be it. It didn't cost a lot, like $75 or something.

I have the same problem it sounds like and I have no clue what it is. I got screwed out of 800 dollars for new monroe shocks and struts and I still have the problem. So I would love to have someone find a solution for the problem. I really don't have a problem unless I have people or added weight in the back of the cars, is this similar to your problem. It sounds loud and makes me cringe.

Mine does it with no one in the car except for myself. I feel like you do. It makes me cringe. That is why I have only about 35,000 miles on a 12 year old car. I rather drive my 98 Ford ranger with a 4 cylinder and 175,000 miles on it (seriously) !

(Anyone want to buy a 94 Camaro in MINT Condition with only 35,000 miles on it and always garaged ?) But NOT cheap ! 5 Figure offers only.

Thanks for your input.

May be the hatch bouncig around, temporarly plage a rolled up towel and close the hatch on it & see if the noise goes away. If it goes away you will need to adjust the hatch so it does not bounce.

Going over bumps, exiting driveways, and hard turns? What size tires to you have on there?
