Is the smoke coming from the exhaust or from under the hood?

check around the valve covers it leaks from there and then burns on the exhaust... could be a very easy cheap fix... also if it is the valve cover gaskets you may want to replace the covers. they used a cork gasket and its a huge PITA to get the gasket off the cover

Huge PITA is an understatement, I had to redo those gaskets this past weekend on my 3.4 and I sincerely hope I never have to do that again.

Well it could be the rear main leaking on the Y-pipe. I guess that would not fall under the "up side"
