Default Jumpy.

I'm not sure if this is normal, but if I change gears on my automatic from a stand or roll, and press the gas preatty quickly after I have done so, that the car will jump.

sounds normal. its the power hitting the wheels through the wheels

similar to an upshift in a manual with the pedal floored or a downshift into a gear that is still too high. the motor is at top hp, and this goes to the wheels until the clutch/torque converter grabs enough to pull the motor back down. you get kind of a jump, then regular acceleration for that gear

Not only the rear end, but the transmission will wind up breaking also. You have to wait for the gears, clutches, bands, etc. to engage before applying power.
