jumpy tac and guages on a 91 z-28
I am having a problem with the electrical on my camaro. The car runs great however the tac will max out upon exceleration, all of the guages are jumpy constantly, head lights flicker, and I can hear a constant noice from the radio. I have had a mechanic check it out they did the following and found no reason why it was doing that -suggested that I replace the computer brain.
Battery check
alternator check
ground check
fuses
pulled brain and cleaned connections
Any ideas.

Would interested to hear what you find. My 88 v6 has simmilar quirks, when I use the right turn signal all the guages bounce with the blinker but stop after the signal is off, when the left signal is used the tach bounces slightly with the signal but nowhere near as much as the right. When the head lights are on the tach pegs out, the voltmeter reads near 8 volts even thought the battery is new, the charging system has been check and I have cleaned all the ground connections I have found so far. This car sat for the last 5 years and I have slowly been going through it getting it going so maybe I will find something sooon.
Good luck with your problem.

Did the mechanic check the alternator by doing a load test? Another possibility is the voltage regulator could be bad (built into the alternator).
And be careful when doing the brain and connections thing, that ended badly once before...
