fuel pump works.....guage doesnt

Default fuel pump works.....guage doesnt

98 v6 camaro

guage reads dead emptybut car runs perfect. do i need a new pump or is there somethig i can adjust or check to fix this?

how much is a new pump?

The sending unit is more than likely defective. I'm not sure on the specifics, and how it's actually fitted into the tank, whether it's part of the pump assembly or not. I'm sure someone else on the boards can give you a more specific answer, but in a broad sense, no, you should not have to worry with a new fuel pump.

Yeah, it's all one unit, aka fuel pump module. Generally, your best bet is to replace the unit as a whole. It's cheaper than "piecing" it out (assuming you can fin done readily available) and there's no way of knowing that say two days after replacing the sending unit the pump won't go out and you'll have to drop the tank again. Napa currently offers Delphi exact OEM part replacements for a pretty good price. On most vehicles they're cheaper than the Napa Brand Fuel Pumps.
