clutch help
ive been looking around in a couple different forums on how to replace a clutch and i havent found anything for a v6 3800 engine. would anyone be able to help me or post links that could help? also; what prep work would be involved?

changing the clutch isnt too bad.
first unhook the battery.
now you need to pull out the center console so you can remove the shifter from the trans.
get the car up and supported with jackstands.
next to come off is the piece of metal that looks like an X.
now unbolt the torque arm (the arm that goes from the trans to the rear end) from the transmission (be careful when doing this, they have a tendency to fly up towards the floor. may also want to put a jack under one of the shocks to keep the axle from rolling) and than unbolt it from the axle.
next would be the driveshaft, its 4 11mm bolts at the axle. and than just pull it out of the trans.
now with the trans supported unbolt the trans crossmember from the body and trans mount.
slowly lower the trans but dont let it hang all the way (keep it on the jack).
now unhook the VSS connector and unbolt the slave cylinder.
now with about 3 ft of extensions an 18mm socket and a breaker bar you can unbolt the 6 bolts that hold the trans to the engine.
now its time to pull out the trans, its probably going to fight you to come out. make sure you support it towards the center (if you have 2 jacks its easier if you can support it at the front and back)
after the trans is out unbolt the pressure plate and remove the disk.
now you have a couple choices, you can resurface the flywheel, replace the flywheel, or take the risk and leave it alone (i dont suggest option 3).
make sure you pull out the pilot bushing and replace (you can fill the hole with grease and hammer a wooden dowel into it, the grease will force the old bushing out).
when installing the new clutch disk make sure you put it in the right way (it will say flywheel on one side) insert the alignment tool into the disk than align up to the flywheel.
now bolt the new pressure plate on in a chris cross pattern (like lugnuts).
after the pressure plate is torqued down you can remove the alignment tool.
now just bolt everything back together in the opposite order that it came off.
also this is a great time to replace the tailshaft seal in the trans and the u joints in the driveshaft.

You should buy a manual. There is a couple steps BC missed relative to the Slave cylinder and the throwout bearing. You really want to replace that since it is an internal one.

Most parts store carry them.
these are the bomb. I am not sure why the 02's are sooo pricey, I did not pay anywhere near that for my set 3 GM manual for my 96.
