Default 96 to 01 Engine swap

I have a 1996 Camaro. Bought a 01 engine at a junkyard with 7k miles on it. Service book says only mod needed for the swap is the old intake manifold. Anybody do this yet? Anyone know where I can get a replacement intake manifold(1996). Searched the net but none look the same as my old one. I dont want to use the old one since the reason the engine blew was problems from an intake manifold coolant leak. thanks

your 01 motor is a ls1, and if you have a z28 you have a lt1. nothing interchanges between the two. what book are you reading? unless your manifold is cracked, it was just a gasket that caused the leak.

I'd keep checking eBay and www.tacreationsusa.com for manifolds. I have a spare one I'm porting/polishing. I got mine off eBay. That website I listed, has some decent prices, though right now they don't have any in stock. Was/is there a crack in the manifold, or was the gasket just leaking?

no idea if theres a crack or the if the gasket was leaking. i changed the gaskets and it seemed to do the trick but then the engine went afterwards. and with this new engine i got id rather not take a chance

Only other things I can think of to check is craigslist or local junkyard.
