Default Rear Shocks.

Rear's are easy.

Undo both the nuts top and bottom, pull it out, install new ones, tighten up the nuts. Drink beer.

The beer won't even be cold yet by the time you are done the job.

Hopefully the beer is STILL cold....lol....

Changing shocks is easy. No need for "step by step"....just look at it and you can see what needs top be done.

He must have started with a warm one, and put it in the fridge when he started the shock replacement!

Front ones are the pain since they are struts.

As someone else took the time to point this out to correct me, I will return the favour.

We don't have struts, we have shocks. Even though just about every manufacturer calls them struts. And upper strut mounts.

They are, apparently, shocks.

Thats cool. I just go by what rock auto /gm parts direct tells me I need for the front, which is a strut....It's inside the coil spring, so do you need a strut compressor to remove it.....or not? Can you replace it without dissassembly of the unit?

You will require a spring compressor to remove the fronts, preferably wall mounted.

As shown below, you will probably end up torching the upper nut off, needing a mount for each side as well.

If you are getting new springs too, just take the old assemblies out and toss in the dumpster. Install the new springs, mounts on to the new shocks and re-install.

It's what I had to do. I was changing springs anyway though.
