So got a hold of Progressive, and it's pretty much a no go. We have a $500 deductible and there's not that much money's worth of damage. Local salvage yard has about 8 or 9 good windshields, so I'll be calling them on my day off to get a price. Mirror I can pick up from work for under $15 bucks and paint...well I still have extra from the first redo.

Cheeks, I already found a few different ways to fab up a torque arm mount and I'm waiting one of them to arrive now. I'm keeping that one a secret till it arrives though. How did you guys go about it?

I've thought about the 9in, but went against it because the car isn't going to be an all out drag car running 9 seconds (as much as I wish) so it doesn't need that much overkill. I think I'd go with S60 anyways because it's stronger and has less drag. I have $50 invested in the 8.5 housing. If I don't end up creating a torque arm mount that works and can handle the abuse, well, I'll find something else to stick it in.

NO, NO, NO!! YOUR CAR IS SO PERFECTLY GORGEOUS! WHY DID A TREE HAVE TO FALL ON IT?!?!
Easy fixes or not, those little imperfections are a bother when they happen while you have it. Iits one thing if you get it that way, but knowing what it was like before..
Unfortunately Ive been in a similar situation. I had to drive my girlfriend to work during a hurricane. Yes, they wanted her in during a hurricane... Anyhow, I had dim as crap lights then. Driving back home, *BANG.. SQUEEEAAAALLLLLL* Had no idea wht I hit because I couldnt see it. I ran over a damn full sized tree in the middle of the road. Took my front bumper cover clean off, bent up the fenders, destroyed half the stuff underneath. All after I had just repainted and cleaned it up.
So I know you may see it as not so bad, but Ive been in a similar situation and Im upset just hearing this happened to your camaro.

I understand where you're coming from 94, and I am upset and was pissed at myself because it happened. I knew they issued a severe thunderstorm warning that called for 60+ mph winds and I knew how badly that tree sways even in light wind, it's over 100 years old. The first thing I should have done was move my car up towards my house where it'd be safe from every thing but my trash can that blew around. But I see this on the bright side in two ways:

1) Had my car been a mere 5-6 inches more forward, it would have landed on the roof, not the windshield. My car would have been totaled and I probably would have cried myself to sleep for a few weeks.

2) This gives me a fresh start (and excuse) to put some real time and money into my car (which will be easier working full time/no school expenses) to make it that much closer to what I want her to be; a solid low to mid 11 sec car painted Candy Apple Red w/ black mirrors/roof/sail panels/stripes with the same hint of silver metallic that is in them now. Once that as well as the engine/suspensions mods I feel necessary are done, she will only get money for fuel and the occasional wear items.

Been meaning to get these up but between working full time, trying to get estimates of the damage to the car, and trying to figure out what broke on my four wheeler, it's been hard to find time to do anything really that I want too. But this thing is solid and feel it'll do quite fine with the power I'll put down.

I realize this moves the torque arm mount forward a few inches from the original location, so I plan on using this from BMR.

Interesting torque arm mount on the rear pumpkin. Is that a tried and tested design?
Curious how the small bolts that were only designed to hold on a tin cover will hold up against the torque that's trying to lift the whole front of the car?
....Or does that front plate surround the pinion snout, in a snug fashion?

It's based off the GNx design, so it should be. But we'll find out soon enough.

The bolts for the cover have to replaced because the originals are too short with the added thickness of the mount. Four (maybe six) will be replaced with studs, the others with the grade 8 bolts that I have now. I also be replacing the stock cover with a girdle, so that should help some too.

The front part sits snug (actually too snug, gonna have to grind a wee bit down) and there's another plate that bolts to connect the bottom and top of it.

For what I need it for, I feel it'll do more than enough. If it breaks though, I do have a few other back up ideas for a mount.

Yeah, the one thing I see is the lifting force would want to rotate that pinion plate (since it isn't "attached" to the housing), bottom towards the back & top towards the front, to where it could push back on the lower bar that attaches to the cover plate. More force will be pushing against the bottom cover bolts since that's where the outward pressure will be applied.

I see what you're saying, but the front of the mount wraps around the differential housing and prevents it from lifting. I'll show you a pic of what I mean. But I tried lifting just the mount with one arm while pushing down on the housing with the other (I know not near close to the same amount of force as launching the car) but even with one of the bars not bolted down and attachment plate not attached it hardly moved.

So I ordered new springs for the rear today. Will be here tomorrow. The only issue is the new shocks I ordered from Summit have not impressed me as far as ease of adjusting. One will only stay on XF (40/60) and other is able to switch between F (50/50) and R (70/30). Any tricks to getting these to adjust? At this point, I'd just like them both to be on the same settings!

Also, here's something for your enjoyment. Had this four wheeler I've been trying to get running for my little sister. Well it had a flat tire which didn't make it safely drivable. Noticed today that it had a five lug bolt pattern and just thought what the hell, I have some 5 lug wheels lying around, I'll see if they fit. And what do you know? Perfect fit! One wheel is off my brothers old Grand Am and the other off a Alero (same bolt pattern). My buddy Jimmy tested it first to see if it was safe.
