Make sure those tubes are straight before you weld and after. Otherwise, you'll chew through bearings.
Hope you have a good 240V or better welder. Welding to cast steel, IMO, is harder than aluminum. It's certainly more time consuming because you have to heat it up before welding and let it cool slow.
The welding to cast won’t be an issue. My buddy owns a welding company and it going to get it all welded up for me. On another note, the rear end project is on hold until I find another engine. Mine blew up....
I can see the bottom of the lifter through the inspection hole in the lifter valley. It’s destroyed. Roller is gone and like 1/4” of the bottom of the lifter is completely gone. Cam lobe looks okay. Have the engine ready to pull. Gonna yank it tomorrow night.
