Sorry for the late response. A lot of hours have been put in this thing but I love it to death lol. On another note, I broke ANOTHER 10 bolt. It lasted 5 weeks before it was done. I wasn’t too upset about it because it was a 3.23 rear end and I wasn’t happy with those gears over my 3.42 factory gears. Soooo I found another rear end from an LS1 car with the torsen posi unit. I pulled the carrier from that rear end and put it in my factory 3.42 rear end with my factory 3.42 gears being that the only thing wrong with it was the spider gears and all is well again. Yay. I’m going to baby it from here on out because these rear ends are hard to find around here.

I just don't understand how you blew two already. I'm still on the original and even with hard launches at the races it hasn't made a noise.

Really no clue. The original one had a lot of hard miles on it before I ever rebuilt the engine. The next one had a bunch of metal shavings in it when I bought it. It was probably on its way out when I got it but I couldn’t find another one aside from that one so I went ahead and installed it. Lesson learned. The one I threw together this time seems to be healthy. Haven’t drove it hard since I installed it so hopefully it’ll last.

Well **** happens,I just don't understand why GM put a 10 bolt in the 4th gen Z28 and SS cars to begin with, they should have had a 12 bolt especially the stick shift cars.
At some point I plan on replacing mine with a Moser 12 bolt or nine inch and not worry about it anymore.
I'm always fearful of doing a hard launch in my car with that 10 bolt in there.

Even if GM would have done the 8.5/8.6 they used in the 1/2 ton trucks. Those are plenty strong. But I'm sure that would have cost too much.

Yeah that would have been better and how much more would it cost really, they put better rear ends in the early SS and Z28 cars so why not these cars.
They charged a lot more for the Z28's and more yet for the SS cars but still skimped on the rear ends, pretty lame IMO.

Not exactly. There are very, very, very rare SLP cars that came with 12 bolts..

Not many I'll bet, SLP cars of course had a list of options most didn't pay extra to get.
If I'd of bought mine new I would have ordered that 12 bolt that's for sure.
Most were probably special cars like Berger Camaros I'd imagine.

If I hadn't seen one in person, with paperwork, I would never believe it was even an option
