depends on the quality of the p&p. do some background on the shop if you can. if its a good p&p job its a great deal.

Thoughts on used rockers and pushrods?
93-97 Camaro LT1 parts

Would those still be good to use, or are those the kind of things that you shouldn't buy used?

So here's what I'm thinking: full rebuild. Then, get this cam kit:

http://www.ebay.com/itm/COMP-CAM-CHE...8ef722&vxp=mtr

Other parts:

Pushrods (do I need a different length?)
Rockers
Valve seals
Rocker studs
Impala head gaskets
Timing chain
timing cover gasket
new oil pan (mine's rather beat up and rusty)
Converter (looking at this one...thoughts? http://www.ebay.com/itm/130887041689...S:1123&vxp=mtr)
trans cooler
trans temp gauge
LS1 steering shaft
oil pump
tune
engine bay paint
shop use (going to tow the car to Tech Shop in Allen Park and do the work there. $75/mo with my MSU ID)

Should come out to about $3500. Any thoughts? Anything I missed?

I've read that the 306 doesn't like to play nice with stock bottom-end stuff and idles like crap. From what I've seen, the 503 should put me solidly in the 325-350whp range that I'm shooting for.

why a 3400 stall. thats pretty high for a small cam. 2-2500 should work fine. not so sure i would deal with the converter guy. kinda new. have you looked at the 2x that patc has. Torque Converter Diesel Torque Converters 68RFE Billet Low Stall

Almost everybody I've talked to has said that doing anything under 3000 stall isn't worth it. Also, I've been strongly recommended to get a converter from a known good brand (one of those "you get what you pay for" things). And I don't know if I'd call the 503 a "small cam." It sounds like it's about the max for stock heads and bottom end.

im using the largest emmissions legel cam lloyd has. 223/230 .565/.565 112 lsa its a better version of the hot cam. he has changed it from when i got mine. its now 224/230 .573/.568 112 lsa. gots a tad more lift. its a bit much for stock converter but will work. next size down is 218/224 .570/.565 111 lsa. the 111 lsa should give a much better idle. both cams are ok with stock lower end. im using a 2k stall from patc. its the 5x and i am very empressed with it. has 2.5 miltiplcation that helps mpg and 1/4 times. i have used a 2k stall from b&m and it was nothing like this one. it was more like a stock converter.
