1993-1996 LED Interior Swap ***How to***
Mizz88: There is a completely different way of taking the gauge cluster apart on the 97 because the entire dash is different. You'll need to look up how to take the dash apart in the 1997 Camaro. As far as the bulbs, I think you would use the same bulbs. Don't quote me on that though.
Yup and I bet that your cluster, with only 5 bulbs, has a bunch of weak spots in the lighting lol. In that case, yes it's the same bulbs I used when I did my conversion.
not sure about the weak spots my cluster lights up pretty good... I am still using incandesants but it looks good and well lit. This summer I am thinking about a cool white LED swap. I would also really like to try out the red LEDs and modify a set of needles to show white with lights off and red lights on.

There's no weak spots. My cluster looks perfect. The other bulbs are for the high beam light, and turn signals and I don't remember what else is in there. Having those as LEDs are ungodly obnoxious. Therefore, not necessary. So 5 is just fine. Keep in mind though, putting white LEDs in there will look blue unless you get a custom cluster and HVAC set made. Which is very expensive.
This is an older pic with the different LEDs in, but the new ones still look about the same. I haven't taken any pics of the new ones and HVAC set.

HVACs are not the same. They are 2 smaller 74 bulbs. They require being broken out. The lighting control....I haven't gotten to yet. That's not easy to do and requires a single led bulb (the one with the neg and pos pins) and soldering back together. I have my HVACS changed to LEDs because they burnt out. My lighting control hasn't been changed. I want to grab one from the junk yard and pull apart. If you do it wrong, you can destroy the unit. Very tricky.
