Ah, I see.
Enough posts.
I always like to do research before I make decisions and spend money but this has gone on long enough.

I'll get the new alpine head unit and the type r components for the front.
With any luck, I'll find those monsoon tweeters and replace them and the door speakers with the components.

I'll leave the back speakers as monsoons with the tweeters, two speakers and the monsoon amp to power them. The new amp I get will be bridged and putting out 100w rms x2 powering the components.

Alpine SPR-60C (SPR60C) 6.5" 2-Way Type-R Component Car Speakers

BAM!

PS. Thanks for all your help, guitar

1st post. Reading up on what you guys are saying about speakers. I have the original monsoons. They are great "new". after that the dry out. 02 modle. now 2011. Ayway old school now boom box stuff just regular top various radio or CD's. My wife began listening to "Audioa' books. the readers voice boomed the speakers to pieces. From the winshield to the rear hatch gone. Son any good just above OEM what set up would be viable?

Done! All installed, type r components in the front, no back speakers now, couldn't get the monsoon **** working with the alpine head unit because it only had one output at a different OHM load. I don't even care because the fronts sound so good.

I heard placing tweeters more than a foot away from the woofer creates phase distortion, so I put the tweeters right next to the speaker and angled them up.
Cross over is in the door.

Deleted the remote 12 disc player as well because I have a cd player in the head unit now.

WA BAM!!

Alpine type S is cheaper and reliable.
