Our last one was a rescue from a puppy mill.
Hard to find one out here at all let alone a rescue.
I do plan on another dog as well and will try to do a rescue but a Bassett first for the wife.

Several basset hound rescues out there.
If you cannot get to them, they will make arrangements in getting to you.
Anything in getting a rescued hound to its new 'forever' home.

I don't think the wife will take one without meeting in person first, with the dog that is.

She is pretty, sorry you had to put her down.
Agree, but remember, the dog choses you, not you choosing them.
They know, more than we give them credit.

Thanks for the hound pics. Friends on the opposite corner of our section of land used to have a pair that would visit our farm. They used to make the rounds and visit all the neighbors. The female eventually got accidentally locked in a neighbor's corn crib. She was in there for several days before he found her. She recovered but that incident put an end to her traveling.
