Default Turn signal PROBLEM...

I just recently bought a '97 RS. When I got it, the front driver's side turn signal was out. Naturally, I assume it's just a burnt bulb. I buy a replacement (3157), only to find out the socket that's in there is not one for a 3157. It fits 1157 type bulbs. It looks like someone "southern engineered" this. The only way the bulb lights up is when the headlight switch is on either headlights or parking lights. Turn signal doesn't work, nor is it on with the headlight switch in off. The passenger's side light is on all the time and works with the turn signal, as it normally should. Any input as to why it won't work, or where I could find a bulb socket for a 3157? Thanks in advance.

first and cheapest..junkyard.. If not there, I am sure that any auto part retailer can order or may have one.

Couldn't find any at the auto parts store, but found some online. Thanks.
