Default turn signal problem

So im out in my 89 iroc, enjoying the nice weather, when I go to make a left turn at a light. click the lever down, turn my wheel and I hear a loud CRACK. Interesting....

Didn't notice much since I made mostly rights on the way home but it no longer registers that the wheel has turned left so it doesn't click after turning a ways to know to turn it off when the wheel turns back straight.

What did I break? :P

Thanks,
Bez

its the turn signal cancel. ive heard of them breaking before, and im not sure what entails to repair it. im going to guess to say the column needs taken apart and the steering wheel needs pulled to replace it
